Antony misses Ajax training amid Manchester United links

  Ajax  attacker  Antony  was absent from the Amsterdam giants' first pre-season training session on Friday amid links with a possible switch to  Manchester United . The 22-year-old emerged as one of  Erik ten Hag 's key attackers during the 2021-22 season and has been tipped to reunite with the Dutchman at Old Trafford. Alfred Schreuder  has taken over at Ajax following Ten Hag's Manchester switch, and the 49-year-old has affirmed that he is keen to retain Antony's services.   "We want to keep Antony at Ajax. He has a contract until 2025. I want to work with him, and the club knows this," Schreuder told  ESPN  when questioned on the Brazilian's future. However, fuel was added to the fire surrounding Antony's future when the former Sao Paulo youngster did not report for pre-season training on Friday.     New  Chelsea  owner  Todd Boehly  has reportedly discussed a potential move with  Cristiano Ronaldo 's agent  Jorge Mendes . The Blues recently announced that Boehly would be taking over as interim sporting director, with Marina Granovskaia set to leave the role at the end of the transfer window. Boehly has already been proactive in his interim role, with the  Athletic  reporting that the Chelsea owner recently held a meeting with Ronaldo's agent.   Although Ronaldo has a year left to run on his current  Manchester United  contract, Boehly and Mendes reportedly discussed a potential move for the 37-year-old. Chelsea are exploring forward options, with  Romelu Lukaku  expected to return Inter Milan on a loan deal after leaving the Serie A club last summer.     Arsenal  are reportedly making positive strides in contract talks with defender  William Saliba . Despite joining the Gunners in 2019, Saliba is still yet to make a competitive appearance for  Mikel Arteta 's side, having spent time on loan at St Etienne, Nice and  Marseille . Although Marseille are set to make an offer for the centre-back, Saliba has previously expressed his desire to remain at the Emirates Stadium and fight for his place in the side.   Arteta has also indicated that Saliba will have a role to play in the Arsenal squad for the 2022-23 season. With Saliba set be included in Arteta's plans next term, according to  Chris Wheatley , talks have already begun over an extension to Saliba's current contract, which is set to expire in 2024.   The report indicates that contract negotiations are progressing well ahead of pre-season training which is scheduled to begin in the next couple of weeks.

Liverpool to move for Real Madrid's Rodrygo as Sadio Mane replacement?

  © Reuters Liverpool are reportedly considering a shock move for Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo as a replacement for Sadio Mane. Mane's six-year tenure at Anfield came to an end earlier this month, as the 30-year-old made a £35m switch to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich. Mane was due to become a free agent at the end of next season, and Liverpool turned down two bids from the Bavarian giants before an agreement was struck. Jurgen Klopp 's side have already signed  Fabio Carvalho  and  Darwin Nunez  to negate the impact of Mane's exit, but  Mohamed Salah 's future is still being called into question. Kalvin Phillips 'agrees £150k-a-week Manchester City contract'

  Kalvin Phillips has reportedly agreed personal terms with Manchester City which will see the midfielder earn £150,000 per week at the Etihad Stadium. On Friday, it was widely reported that the Premier League champions have reached an agreement with  Leeds United  to sign the 26-year-old for an initial £42m, which could rise to £45m with add-ons. According to  Football Insider , both parties are now in the final stages of negotiations and Phillips has agreed to sign a double-your-money contract with City, although the length of his deal is currently unknown. Even though Phillips is currently away on holiday, it is thought that both City and Leeds could be in a position to officially announce the deal at some point next week if negotiations continue to progress.   Manchester United  are reportedly hopeful that they can complete the signing of  Frenkie de Jong  from  Barcelona  by next week. Despite his current Barcelona contract running until 2026, De Jong has been identified by the Red Devils as their top midfield target following the departures of  Paul Pogba ,  Nemanja Matic  and  Jesse Lingard . Although the Dutch midfielder has downplayed a move away from Camp Nou, Man United are keen to sign De Jong this summer.   According to the  Mirror , the Premier League club are confident that a deal can be completed as early as next week, with the Red Devils edging closer to Barcelona's £68.8m asking price. Once a fee has been agreed upon, De Jong is expected to decide on a five-year contract that has been proposed by United.   Since joining Barcelona in 2019, the 25-year-old has scored 12 goals in 138 appearances for the club, helping his side lift a Copa del Rey trophy in that period.

The 30-year-old has been locked in negotiations over a contract renewal with the Reds for months, but discussions between the two parties are yet to lead to a positive solution.
